Thirty years ago, in the midst of violence and poverty in Venezuela, José Antonio Abreu founded the organization FESNOJIV, whose goal is to defy social inequalities and to get young people off the streets.
Changing society through music? What may seem to be quixotic social romanticism has achieved success. In the meantime, almost 300,000 children and youths find themselves in this parallel world of music, dreams and goals.
The method appears simple: By being exposed to and dealing with valuable lent instruments, young people learn how to take over responsibility for the first time.
